Today a student was obviously not paying attention, so I called on her to answer the question. I have trained them well and she did not waste our time with frivolity and smoke-blowing, so she came right out and said, "I wasn't paying attention, Mr. W."
"What should I do with you, Charlene!" I moaned.
"Throw her outside," piped up another student. And he'd do it, too, if he was in charge. Sooner or later he'd be fired if he tried it, though.
